Andi is The Web’s Admin Assistant, however she has proven to be an Excel and Access Database wizard. Andi works with Peer Mentors and Administrative staff (Executive Directive and Program Coordinator) offering technical support and fixing whatever doesn’t work for the other staff.
The Alaska Mental Health Consumer Web primarily hires individuals that have experienced homelessness and mental health issues personally or within their family or friends. Andi originally came to the Web to receive services in October of 2008. She has had the opportunity to participate in training and engage in volunteer opportunities. She developed the skills she needed to work as a Peer Support Mentor and joined the staff as a mentor from 2011 to 2014.
Andi found that she enjoyed the opportunity to utilize her administrative skills and was pleased to rejoin the team as an Administrative Assistant in 2015. In this position, Andi continues to prove that she can combine the knowledge of Peer Mentor responsibilities with those of an Administrative Assistant and apply that knowledge in a manner that benefits the staff and the Web. Her skills allow her to apply the combined knowledge of Peer Support and Administration as she continues to develop policies and procedures that assists her coworkers in moving ahead with team development. Although, Andi possesses the skills to be an effective Peer Support Mentor, she feels that she is more valuable to the agency as an Administrative Assistant.
