BREAKIN' TRAIL

NAMI Wasilla is prospering under the direction of its president Doug Moore.  It is encouraging to see an active group of people coming together twice a month to support, educate and encourage each other.

Doug is very busy advocating for a dual diagnosis program and getting that information out to the public.  After contact in recovery with Clitheroe Center in Anchorage and MICA in Wasilla, he has tirelessly made every effort to get a 12 step - Double Trouble information packet from sponsor Vick Goul of MICA to the community.

Doug is looking forward to starting up a Double Trouble group on Mondays at the Computer Connection in Anchorage, but the weekly trip to town will add to his already busy schedule.  His heart is open to educating people with a dual diagnosis.  On Wednesday May 16 he was invited to speak at APU in Anchorage before Service Providers of AKEELA House about the importance of addressing addiction together with mental illnesses.

NAMI Wasilla has future plans to rent or build their own facility in the next year, so beneficiaries and their friends and families have access to the valuable information in the Mat-Su Valley that NAMI AK offers to Anchorage consumers.

With an energenic Vice President Carole Starace, a newly appointed Secretary Crystal D. Choate and Treasurer Robert Brown, the Valley affiliate is leaving its infancy stages, looking forward to the future of serving members in the Matanuska Susitna Valley.

Please feel free to drop in to visit at our meetings each month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 6:oo pm, West Valley Medical Campus, Conference room "C". Parking in back lower level.
